My reason why.

My name is Carly. I am a mother to two beautiful children and a wife. I would describe my life as filled with love, support, and happiness. My journey to find happiness and peace within motherhood hasn’t always been easy and one that is continuing to grow.  Growing up, I always dreamt of being a mother. I found myself always caring for others, being the nurturing friend, and truly loving to help other people.

After meeting my husband and getting married, we couldn’t wait to start our family. I was the first one in my immediate family and friend group to get pregnant and have a baby boy.  The day I gave birth to my son was the best day of my life. My first postpartum journey however was one of the hardest yet, best times of my life. I felt a love I had never felt before but in so many ways I felt so alone. Managing the difficulties of motherhood including breastfeeding, caring for my son, and accepting my new body and mind, led me to put my health and wellness on the back burner. I had amazing support, but also felt like no one around me truly understood what I was going through. I felt in a constant state of worry. I was experiencing postpartum anxiety. When my son was two I gave birth to my daughter. During this time the world was going through a global pandemic.

My daughter’s birth was very traumatic. Due to a cardiac complication, she had to be life-flighted to another hospital, which meant we had to be separated . This trauma was something I never truly processed until years later, and something I’m still processing today. Even after going through birth trauma, I felt my second early postpartum experience was more enjoyable. I felt more confident with breastfeeding and caring for my daughter, although I still struggled with anxiety.  People would tell me all the time how easy I made motherhood look or how great I was doing. Although it was nice to hear,  it didn’t change how I felt deep down and how I felt about myself.

It wasn’t until years later when I started focusing on my own health and wellness, specifically nutrition, that I truly started to feel like the best version of myself. Going through the postpartum certification program not only helped me heal and gave me the tools I needed to help nourish my body and soul, it also gave me the motivation to start this journey where I can coach and share my knowledge with others.
